Daytime Classes
Daytime Language Course Registration Terms & Conditions
Applications for places should be made via the appropriate online application form and submitted by the specified deadline.
Registration for language modules is subject to availability. Priority will be given to applications from students taking language modules for credit. Non-credit students will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis and first choices are not guaranteed. We ask all students to submit multiple preferences if appropriate.
From autumn 2024-25, all non-credit language modules are free for current UEA students.
Students can take one free module per semester.
UEA regrets that it cannot offer drop-in language courses. Tutors teach only during the slots indicated on timetables, unless they have to rearrange a class in exceptional circumstances. Non-credit students are required to commit the same amount of dedication and engagement in the language module as the credit students.
If a non-credit student misses two consecutive weeks of classes (seminar and oral) with no justification, they will be contacted to ask if they would like to be withdrawn from the module. If no reply is received, they will be automatically removed from the module.
All current UEA students are reminded that they are subject to the UEA Student Regulations while undertaking a language course. All students should abide by these and conduct themselves in a polite and appropriate manner. Failure to do so may result in a student disciplinary referral.

Where The UEA Language Programme has had to cancel a course after the course has started you shall be entitled to a refund of the fee on a pro-rata basis.
The UEA Language Programme will refund the full course fee of £180 if you withdraw prior to the start of the course.
The UEA Language Programme will refund the full course fee of £180, minus the cost of your first class (£18), if you withdraw after your first class but before your second class. Refunds will not be considered after this period, unless in exceptional circumstances.
Any withdrawal must be submitted in writing to The UEA Language Programme: ulp@uea.ac.uk
The UEA Language Programme regrets it cannot accept responsibility for unforeseen changes in a participant’s circumstances that prevents attendance on the course and usually no refund shall be payable; exceptional circumstances will be considered.
All refunds shall be made electronically against the card used to pay for the fee and should appear within 28 days on your card statement/account.
Gift vouchers
UEA Gift vouchers are issued by UEA and can be used towards the cost of language courses run by UEA. Vouchers cannot be used against the costs of any other courses, goods or services.
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Vouchers cannot be redeemed after the expiry date.
Only one gift voucher can be used per course booking.
Vouchers are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Lost, stolen or destroyed gift vouchers will not be exchanged or refunded.
In the unlikely event that a course needs to be cancelled by the UEA Language Programme, a replacement gift voucher shall be issued and shall be valid for a further 12 months.
In the event that a voucher holder withdraws from study, no refund shall be given.
The UEA Language programme regrets that gift vouchers cannot be refunded, other than within the 14-day cancellation period as per the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
No change or credit will be given in the event that the voucher value exceeds the total cost of the course.
The UEA Language Programme does not guarantee that spaces will be available on courses. Spaces are only secured once a course has been booked by the recipient of the voucher, so it is recommended that you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. We run classes 3 times per year (autumn, spring and summer). If the class you want to take is full, we can reserve you a place on the same course in the next term.
To Redeem your voucher: Email ulp@uea.ac.uk and let them know which course you would like to take. You will need to quote your unique voucher code and provide a few personal details. Once redeemed, you will be sent a confirmation of your course attendance.
