Language Course Registration Terms & Conditions

  • Applications for places should be made on the appropriate online application form and submitted in accordance with the timelines set on the ULP webpages.

  • Language modules registration is subject to availability. Applications for credit language students have priority. Non-credit students will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis and first choices are not guaranteed.

  • Payment will be requested via Evision; once you have received an invoice, withdrawal without payment of the fee is no longer possible.

  • UEA regrets that it cannot offer drop-in or pay-as-you-go language courses, nor do we offer refunds for any classes that a student is unable to attend.

  • Non-credit students enrolled in the free language offer for HUM students are required to commit the same amount of dedication and engagement in the language module as the credit students.

  • If a non-credit student enrolled in the free language offer for HUM students misses two consecutive seminars with no justification, they will be automatically withdrawn from the module.

  • These Language Course Terms and Conditions are specific to UEA Language Courses and are in addition to UEA’s general terms and conditions of web use, including any UEA general terms and conditions relating to on-line purchasing which apply to all. These Language Course terms and conditions shall take precedent where any conflict exists. The general terms and conditions are available to view from UEA’s website.


Evening Classes

Language Course Registration Terms & Conditions

  • Applications for classes should be made via our website; payment is taken through the UEA Store immediately and only then is your place confirmed.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age at the start of the course.

  • UEA regrets that it cannot offer drop-in or pay-as-you-go language courses, nor do we offer refunds for any classes that a student is unable to attend.

  • UEA reserves the right to reschedule or cancel classes. UEA shall give you as much notice as possible in this case.

  • Where possible our courses are taught by the same tutor and at the same venue. However UEA reserves the right to change a tutor or venue. UEA shall give you as much notice as possible in this case.

  • These Language Course Terms and Conditions are specific to UEA Language Courses and are in addition to UEA’s general terms and conditions of web use, including any UEA general terms and conditions relating to on-line purchasing which apply to all.

  • These Language Course terms and conditions shall take precedent where any conflict exists. The general terms and conditions are available to view from UEA’s website.

  • Any textbooks or course materials you wish to purchase during the course are not included in the course fee of £150 and will need to be purchased separately and at your own expense.

Language Course Refund Policy

  • A minimum of 6 students is required in order for a course to run. Should any course not recruit sufficiently, a full refund will be provided as soon as the application period ends.

  • Where UEA has had to cancel a course for any reason prior to the start of the course you shall be entitled to a full refund.

  • Where UEA has had to cancel a course after the course has started you shall be entitled to a refund of the fee on a pro-rata basis.

  • Where you have decided to withdraw from the course before the first class, you will be entitled to a refund minus an administration fee of £30.

  • Where you have decided to withdraw from the course within 48 hours of your first class, you will be entitled to a refund minus an administration fee of £30.

  • The full cost of £150 is non-refundable if you decide to withdraw 48hrs or more after the first hour of the course.

  • All withdrawals must be submitted in writing to: ulp@uea.ac.uk

  • UEA regrets it cannot accept responsibility for unforeseen changes in a participant’s circumstances that prevents attendance on the course and usually no refund shall be payable.

  • UEA shall notify you, within 28 days of a cancellation, to inform you of any refund you are entitled to.

  • The decision of UEA as to the amount of refund due shall be final.

  • All refunds shall be made electronically against the card used to pay for the fee and should appear within 28 days on your card statement/account

  • Course fees cannot be transferred across to the next term and withdrawing from a course after the refund period will result in a full loss of the course fee.
