HOW OFTEN DO EVENING CLASSES RUN? . . .
There are three sessions per year:
October to December (Autumn)
January to March (Spring)
April to June (Summer)
HOW LONG DOES EACH COURSE RUN FOR? . . .
All evening classes run for a total of 20 hours. This will usually be taught as one class of 2 hours each week for 10 weeks (or equivalent).
HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE THERE PER CLASS? . . .
We require a minimum of 6 students for the class to run and there is a maximum class size of 18. Places are granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
HOW DO I REGISTER MY INTEREST FOR AN EVENING CLASS PRIOR TO APPLICATIONS OPENING? . . .
Please send an email to email@example.com to request that your details be added to our mailing list. You will then receive notification by email each time a new schedule is released. Please add the ULP email address to your safe sender list to avoid the emails going into your junk folder.
WHERE DO EVENING CLASSES TAKE PLACE? . . .
Classes take place on the main UEA campus. You will be informed which room your class will be in when you receive your confirmation email.
WHERE CAN I PARK? . . .
Car parking is available in the main car park only, and after 6pm costs a flat fee of £1. All car parking information can be found here.
IS THERE A BREAK FOR HALF TERM? . . .
Unless mentioned otherwise, evening classes are taught during half-term.
WILL I BE REQUIRED TO UNDETAKE ANY ASSESSMENT AS PART OF THE EVENING CLASS? . . .
All ULP evening classes are studied for personal development and pleasure only. There is no formal assessment as part of our courses.
WILL I ACHIEVE A QUALIFICATION UPON COMPLETION OF AN EVENING CLASS? . . .
Our evening classes do not offer a formal qualification however an attendance certificate can be requested upon successful completion of the course (typically 80% attendance or, if less, left to the discretion of the tutor).
HOW DO I APPLY FOR AN ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE FOR MY EVENING CLASS? . . .
You can request an attendance certificate upon successful completion of the course (typically 80% attendance) by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
AM I ABLE TO OBTAIN PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PPD) CREDITS BY ATTENDING AN EVENING CLASS? . . .
It may be possible that your PGR Office/ School/Professional Body may agree to accept attendance on our evening classes as PPD credits, however, this matter would need to be discussed directly with them.
WILL I HAVE TO BUY A TEXTBOOK? . . .
Your tutor will advise you as to whether you need to purchase a textbook or whether all the material is provided by the tutor in the form of photocopies.
WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE UEA LIBRARY RESOURCES? . . .
Evening class students can access the Library as visitors by bringing some address and photo ID to the Library Reception Desk each time they visit. They can also obtain a visitor login if they wish to use the two visitor PCs on Floor 0 to consult the Library catalogue and access selected resources (subject to licence agreements). Each floor of the Library also has a Library Catalogue PC that doesn’t need to be logged in to. Visitors cannot borrow books, but a coin-operated photocopier is on Floor 0 and Floor 01.
HOW DO I REMOVE MY DETAILS FROM THE ULP MAILING LIST? . . .

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH EVENING CLASSES ARE BEING OFFERED EACH TERM? . . .
A schedule listing all languages and Levels offered for study will be made available via the Evening Classes page..
IS THERE AN ENTRANCE TEST OR AN OPEN EVENING TO HELP ME CHOOSE WHICH EVENING CLASS WOULD BE MOST SUITABLE FOR ME? . . .
There is not an entrance test or open evening prior to application.
I HAVE REVIEWED THE LEVEL DESCRIPTORS BUT AM STILL UNSURE AS TO WHICH LEVEL I SHOULD APPLY FOR - WHAT SHOULD I DO? . . .

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I START AN EVENING CLASS WHICH IS NOT SUITED TO MY ABILITY LEVEL? . . .
We are happy for students to swap to a different level of evening class so long as the class which they wish to transfer to is running and has spaces available. Please also refer to the terms and conditions on your application form regarding refunds.

In order to book a place onto one of our classes, you must make payment upfront via our UEA Store. All classes are £150.
Confirmation of a place
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF MY PLACE? . . .
Upon booking and paying for your class, you will receive an email to confirm your place. All further information, such as your tutor name and classroom location will be sent to you several weeks before classes begin.
HOW WILL I RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF MY PLACE ON ON THE EVENING CLASS?. . .
Confirmation will be sent via email (please check your junk email folder, as UEA emails are sometimes diverted to junk mail by service providers).
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CLASS I WANT TO ATTEND IS ALREADY FULL? . . .
All of our classes are booked on a first come, first serve basis. In the event of a class being fully booked, please email us at email@example.com to be added to a waiting list.
ARE EVENING CLASSES EVER CANCELLED? . . .
ULP evening classes are subject to a minimum student uptake and alhough we make every effort to run all of the classes we offer on the schedule, there may be times that we will have to close a class due to low recruitment. Should this happen, you will be contacted via email and issued a refund.
Fees and Payment
HOW MUCH DO EVENING CLASSES COST? . . .
All of our evening classes cost £150 for 20 hours of teaching.
ARE THERE DISCOUNTS OR CONCESSIONS AVAILABLE? . . .
As we strive to keep the cost of our classes as low as possible, unfortunately we are unable to offer any discounts or concessions.
WHEN WILL I PAY FOR MY EVENING CLASS? . . .
We aim to send you a confirmation email with 72 hours of the application deadline; this email will include a link to an online payment page. You will be advised in the email how long you have to make the payment. You will not be able to commence with the course if you have not paid and you will lose your place.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR AN EVENING CLASS? . . .
In order to confirm your place, you must book and pay for your class via the UEA Store.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY ULP EVENING CLASS FEES ARE TO BE PAID BY MY EMPLOYER OR UEA SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT? . . .
In these circumstances, please use your confirmation of payment email as proof of payment to claim your payment back from your employer/sponsor.
IS MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIRED? . . .
There is no minimum attendance required, although the flat fee of £150 per course is applicable to all participants (unless, exceptionally if classes are cancelled by the ULP and students are unable to make the re-scheduled classes). To qualify for an attendance certificate you need to attend 80% of lessons.
DO I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND? . . .
If you are able to let us now that you are unable to attend a class (via email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01603 593708) that is fine, but it is not a requirement.
HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO CATCH UP WITH MISSED WORK IF I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND CLASS? . . .
Please request course materials for missed classes by contacting your tutor. They will also be able to answer any questions you might have.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I WISH TO CANCEL OR WITHDRAW FROM MY CLASS? . . .
All withdraws must be submitted in writing to the ULP administrator by email: email@example.com.
WILL I RECEIVE A REFUND? . . .
Please see the Terms and Conditions which are you are required to read and confirm that you have done so in order to apply. This will stipulate that where you have decided to withdraw from the course within 48hrs after the first hour of the course, you will be charged an administration fee of £30. If you decide to withdraw 48hrs after the first hour of the course, the full cost of £150 will be non-refundable. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
